Description

Description

Rankin Retrospective at the Truman Brewery, was Rankin’s first retrospective exhibition in the UK, presenting more than 600 artworks. Looking back at Rankin’s iconic celebrity portraits, charity campaigns and fashion shoots as well as a personal dive into Rankin’s family portraits.

"This is one of the most exciting stages in my journey as a photographer". - Rankin discussing Rankin Retrospective in 2009.

As well as Rankin’s Retrospective, Rankin invited people across the UK to participate in his live and interactive exhibition concept, Rankin Live - his most ambitious project to date (2009). Using the latest in cutting edge technology he will shoot and instantly print the portraits of 1,000 Brits on site at his museum scale exhibition. Incredibly, this process only takes 15 minutes, from the click of the shutter to the hanging. Each portrait went on sale, with all proceeds donated to Oxfam. For this project to happen, Rankin invited 1,000 Brits via a public call-out, on site at his museum scale exhibition and the portraits produced on the day will be hung as part of an ever changing exhibition and uploaded online to the Rankin Live! website. Each portrait then went on sale, with all proceeds donated to Oxfam.
