Rankin has always dedicated time to charity projects, working with Peta, Women’s Aid, Macmillan Cancer Support, Endometriosis and Battersea, to name a few. He also has a long-standing affiliation with Oxfam and in 2011, Rankin was given the opportunity to visit an arid area of Kenya to shoot a campaign and see the extent of the drought for himself. He also hosted an exhibition for Oxglam, which featured work from some of the world’s best photographers. In 2017, he completed a project with Macmillan called Brave the Shave, where loved ones of cancer sufferers shaved their heads in acts of solidarity. In 2018, he teamed up with the Peta team to stand against fur, warned the world against dangerous foods with WCRF, and encouraged people to get tested with Life Ball. In 2021, he joined forces with Project Everyone to launch Fashion Avengers, a new campaign to highlight the crucial role of the fashion sector in achieving the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals. In 2022, Rankin worked with PETA for their second collaborative campaign - featuring actor, Simon Pegg, and focused his lens on four people who survived genocide for Holocaust Memorial Day Trust, which were displayed at Piccadilly Lights in London to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day 2023. In 2023, Rankin continued his collaboration with NHS and photographed NHS staff, patients, volunteers and high-profile supporters to celebrate NHS’s 75th anniversary, teamed up with Movember, and shone a spotlight on our four legged friends who are some of the UK’s most inspiring service dogs with The Kennel Club Charitable Trust.
